W Film is a new handcrafted photographic film, made with traditional Japanese paper and compatible with all types of large and medium format cameras. Washi Film is a black and white photographic film developed from traditional Washi paper. Made for centuries in Japan, this paper combines the right physical properties with a unique aesthetic: strong, flexible and transparent, Washi is the ideal medium for creating artisanal photographic film. Washi film has a basic sensitivity of 25 iso when processed in Tetenal Eukobrom at 1 + 1 dilution (it is possible to reuse the solution for multiple rolls or film sheets). This film is orthochromatic: sensitive to the blue end of the spectrum while relatively insensitive to red. This means that Washi Film can be handled under a red safety light (>545 nm). Easy to handle and develop, Washi Film is available in conventional photo formats: 120, 620 and 4x5. It is processed in a regular black and white paper developer. Being an artisanal product, Washi Film must be carefully cleaned with clean, cold water to ensure optimal conservation of the negative. Each film is sold with a technical sheet that explains how to expose and process it.
